The P-38 was restored and maintained by Dave Goss, General Manager of the Champlin Fighter Museum, and crew; when Dave started GossHawk, the aircraft followed and continued to be maintained at our shop. We maintained the P-38 in airworthy condition and converted/restored the P-38M cockpit back to the P-38L configuration. We then repainted the aircraft in the paint scheme of fighter ace Jack Purdy. From there we continued to perform necessary maintenance.
Behind the Scenes
The P-38 shot down more Japanese aircraft than any other U.S. fighter.
